ernst-happel-stadiumAfter routine win in Andorra, first in EURO 2016 qualifers, Bosnian team travelled to Vienna, where they´ll play Austria in a friendly this Tuesday.
Visit to a small country located in the eastern Pyrenees mountains and bordered by Spain and France was a debut for a new manager. Mehmed Baždarević replaced Safet Sušić after series of bad results in the qualifiers and will try to catch up with the leaders in the group and advance to EURO. He opened his reign with expected win against amateur Andorra side. Edin Džeko scored three goals, all of them coming after Senad Lulić’s assists.
“It was a good day for us. Obviously, we knew that Andorra is going to sit deep and that we’ll need to break their block as soon as possible, so after we scored first everything was much easier. The important thing is that we captured three points and gained some confidence”, said Asmir after the match.
Next stop is Vienna, where hundreds of supporters welcomed Bosnian team already on the airport. More than 10.000 of them is expected on the stands of Ernst Happel stadium on Tuesday.
“As always, their support is enormous. It is amazing to have such a fans and we are all delighted to be here in Vienna, where many of our people live. The match itself is important, even though it’s a friendly. Austria has very good team and we need a good performance so we could enter the final five matches in the qualifiers with more self-confidence”.
